How does Chair work?

Chair is a web app for tracking a night out with friends, choosing your share of a receipt, and keeping the story of your night. You can start or join a night without creating an account.

Updated: 4 November 2026

1. Start a night and invite your friends

Choose Start the night on the home page. Share the invitation link with friends at your table. They can open it and join with a nickname. Only share the link with people you want to join.

2. Keep track as the night unfolds

Record your stops and your own orders. Your personal order and spending records stay private. Joining a shared bill and using your records for matching are separate choices.

3. Check the receipt and choose your share

Check the items, quantities, and amounts before sharing a receipt reading. AI readings can make mistakes. Choose your share from the shared bill and agree on shared items with your friends.

Chair tracks how you split the bill. It does not transfer money or process card payments.

4. Remember the story

Return to the summary after completing the night to remember its stops. Without a linked account, access depends on your browser session. Clearing cookies or changing browsers can cause you to lose access.
