Privacy

Your night belongs to you. Here is what Chair uses and what other members can see.

Updated: 4 November 2026

Identity and sessions

No Google account is required. Secure session cookies identify your anonymous browser identity. Optional Google linking uses your Google account identifier and verified email. Chair does not receive your password.

Without Google linking, losing cookies, changing browsers or losing your session may mean losing access to your history. Signing out does not delete data.

Shared and private records

Participant names and Night card photos, venue stops, shared bills and payment reports are visible to members of that Night. Personal orders and expenses remain private unless you explicitly share them or opt into matching.

Receipt/menu sources start private. Publishing menus or sharing bill proposals exposes the relevant lines to members, without automatically sharing the source image. Only send invitations to intended guests.

Photos, location and providers

Card photos are resized and source metadata removed. They are excluded from Wrapped exports. QR camera frames are processed on your device.

Optional nearby venue search sends your location to Google Places. Coordinates are excluded from Chair product analytics. With your approval, AI reading may send the relevant receipt/menu image or text to OpenAI. Google and OpenAI also apply their own data policies.

Cookies and analytics

Chair uses cookies for sessions and request security. Screen preferences and temporary invite state may be kept in browser storage. Connection information is processed for security and rate limits.

First-party analytics records limited outcomes such as creating, joining and ending a Night, with internal identifiers and timestamps. It excludes nicknames, email, money, receipt contents and coordinates. Raw events are retained for 180 days.

Retention and requests

Active access to private uploaded sources expires after 30 days; you can delete them sooner. Verified published menus and shared bills are separate records. See Delete data for deletion and backup limits.

This page describes technical data use. Operator identity and a verified request channel have not been published; this is not a complete statutory privacy notice.
